My market stall

So, its only been forever that I've said I was going to have a market stall. My new years resolution was to have a stall, and I finally did it. If anyone is from the Central Coast, you will probably be familiar with the Shelly Beach Markets. They are on the last Saturday of the month, I've done a few this year so far with the next one being next Saturday 25th July. My dear friend Larissa from Sugar Plum Tart and I have been going together and it has been great finally selling our hand made creations.
I found this amazing vintage sheet a little while ago, brand new/old never opened. I love how bright and colourful my stall is, you should see the kids eyes light up when they walk past, love it.
I finally have started selling my felt cakes, how long ago did I make these? 5 years maybe.
I've also sold loads of my little Russian dolls. And I went on a hair clip making frenzy.
And all my new crochet toys. It's funny that each market is different, I will sell loads of one thing and the next market I sell none.
It's all a good learning experience and I will try and make new things for each market to try and mix it up a bit. I also get bored making the same thing over and over. I have also found pricing to be hard as I don't like to under price myself as I put a lot of time into making everything, but I also want people to want to buy them too.

So if you are on the Central Coast and around the North end of the Coast, it's a great day out. Also Long Jetty is 5 mins up the road from the Market. It has really become a great little hub with loads of great shops and cafes, definitely a great day out if you are coming up from Sydney.

Crochet Floor Rug

My sister fell pregnant a while ago and I decided to try and make her a crochet mandala floor rug. I found a thinker cotton yarn which I thought would be perfect to give it a go. I chose three colours thinking that they would be OK for either sex. I looked at some different patterns, but in the end I just went with it trying different stitches from different patterns. I have to say that I unpicked many rows as it was hard to get the mat to stay flat.
I used 6 balls of  yarn and went as far as they would take me, I think it turned out to be the perfect size.
Here is the rug on the floor in Olive's room, I kind of wanted to keep it for myself.
I gave it to her the other week when she had her baby. She had a little boy so the colours worked extra well. She loved it and I love my new little nephew, new babies are the best.

A spot of Crochet

I just thought I would pop a few photo's of some of my crochet projects from the past few months. I made lots of Giraffes for lots of new babies we know.
These 2 were for a boy and a girl, I love the grey for both sexes
This little guy was a just because one
And the coloured one was for my Nephews baby cousin, love them all together
This colourful bear was for Olives little friend
And this little girl was for my Niece, the pattern was in an old Mollie makes, or the simply crochet from them (I cant remember). I altered the pattern to make the clothes different. I would have loved to make more, but she turned 2 and they would have been lost on her, maybe when she gets a bit older I will make some more clothes.

Some bit's of crochet and another Giraffe

Life has been happening over here, April and May have just about gone. What has been going on:
We have moved and settled in again, twice in 6 months.
We didn't have Internet for 4 weeks, kind of a good thing
We have been loving walks around our new neighbourhood, I love we are super close to the shops, coffee, fresh bread, an op shop, lots of cute shops and parks. I love it.
Starting a new playgroup with both kids
Watching Olive grow and move and keep us all on our toes, 10 months now and nearly 11
I made this little guy for my Nephew
I have started making little Rabbits

These little guys are quick and easy and are also a cute gift for babies, the black and white one went to my nephew.

I am so sorry I haven't really replied to many questions regarding the Giraffe pattern, I really just haven't been on Blogger for a while. I might try and post some photo's of how I assemble him, as I have been making some more. I am also taking off the "do not sell" part as I know people are, and I feel there is no point with it being on here. I had done it as I saw many other patterns had the same on them. I'm just glad people are happy with the pattern ( especially since I fixed it).

Have a lovely weekend

A few little bits of fun

Happy new year to all. Do anything nice? We didn't do anything, stayed here and just wished we were on a holiday. We were told we have to move again which was lovely ( please note the sarcasm). We were told 1 week after Olive was born we would have to move, then told the day after new years that we had to move. We are starting to think buying might be the way forward as we have totally had enough, we have only been here 4 months.
Right, lets think of nice things. I have taken a few photo's of things I made coming up to Christmas, I was pretty happy with them and may make more.
I made these clips and bows for Ruby's little friend.
These 2 are from Mollie Makes, I put festive bows on them and just sat them in the tree.
These are my faves, I made the grey bunny first then the other 2 for gifts. I crocheted the cardigans to work out how to make little ones. I made a little one for my friends Blythe doll, but I'm not sure on the fit yet. No photo of that one, but my goodness it was fun searching the world of Blythe dolls.
Saving money on buying flowers for my new table, I made pompoms and glued them on some sticks.
And this little deer, just because. This one also went on the tree.

I need to get snapping with the old camera and show some more of my crafty endeavours from the holidays. Now to start searching realeastate.com and packing..... major booooooo.

Crochet Christmas Wreath

I am very excited to be able to sit and write this Blog post. Both my kiddo's are asleep and I have been taking photo's like a mad woman. The light in this new house is tricky and I'm trying to find the best place's to take photo's. Some are photo's are OK, some are pretty average, but hey I'm excited for Christmas and things are going up.
I have just finished my first crochet wreath, it's been a to do item for years and now it's done. Inspiration came from the lovely Attic 24 with her wreath here
I covered my wreath like hers, the only change was I used my crocheting hook to thread the ends in and worked around tucking the loose ends as I went along. This was much easier than using a bodkin, and it looks great too. (sorry no photo of that)
I crocheted sweets and treats for my wreath, with a couple of flowers and pom poms thrown in too. I made up most of the treats, I love the Fab iced lolly, it became  favourite of mine whilst in the UK. The ice cream was from issue 29 of Mollie Makes, and I only made one scoop.
I found some cute little baubles in Typo and used them for a bit of sparkle.
I made the little pom poms on a fork. It's the best idea ever and so quick and easy.
I didn't want to cover the whole wreath as I love the stripes around it.
I think the hardest part was figuring out which colour to make the bow. I pinned them all on as I thought if I wanted to change it a bit for next year I can.
I am so happy with it and I went out and even bought a packet of licorice allsorts after crocheting so many of them, I forgot how much I love them.
Stay tuned as this isn't the only wreath I have made, if you follow me on Instagram you would have already seen it.
Olive is nearly 5 months. I haven't started solids yet, she is still my little baby, I cant believe I can start feeding her. We are now looking forward to a Christmas as a family of 4, and there has been alot of chat about Santa, mainly from Ruby.

Latest Crochet

First I would like to say thank you for all the lovely comments about our newest member of our family Olive. She is going so well and is sleeping like a champ, I've been getting too much sleep perhaps, not always the best with breast feeding though.
I was crocheting like a mad woman before Olive was born. I was just been in the zone and I had been enjoying it especially whilst watching TV. I made some things for Olive and my sister's friends baby girl. The pattern's are pretty much all from the book Amigurumi two, my favourite crochet book.
 A little blue Bird
These rattles are for my sisters friends little girl. The flower in the book isn't a rattle, but I made it into one and the ice cream cone I cant remember where I found it.
These fish where too cute not to make. I am going to make some little loops on the fins to hang them in the pram.
I made this little square bear with left over bits of threads I had. I made this one up myself.
This little girl was from the book but she didn't have the hair. As Ruby is so much into ballerinas I made little ballet shoes for her too.
 My little Giraffe
And here is the new little crochet family.

Crochet Giraffe

Just to let you know I have finally got around to fixing up my Giraffe pattern here. I made another one and this time just made him green, and I was able to amend the pattern when making him. I am pretty sure all the maths part of the pattern is now correct. There are a few changes, mainly with the head and body, with a few small changes to other parts but only missing or gaining a row.
This is how he will look with the new changes.
Here they are together. The new little one will go to my lovely good friend who is having a boy soon, and the stripey one is for my little one, who is very over due now.

Crochet sock monkey beanie

With winter slowly getting colder over here I thought Ruby might need a new beanie. I love sock monkey's and decided to make a crocheted sock monkey beanie. We are turning into quite the little girl and pink was requested, luckily I had found the same moda vera wool I use from Spotlight in an op shop for 50c a ball. Bargain, so I used some of the left over wool from the crocheted blanket and some of the cheap balls I found. It worked out to cost maybe $1.50 to make this.
We pose all the time now for photo's, I used the pattern I found from Repeat Crafter Me, and just changed the colours around.
I may have added a couple of extra rows of increasing as we are a family of slightly larger heads, sad but true.
I then decided to make a little one for the baby, I didn't make the ear flaps on or use button's for the eyes as it's for a baby. I made the new born size but thought it was a bit too small so I made the next size up.
Ruby holding the babies one, we love Angelina Ballerina in our house. Well I say "we" meaning mainly Ruby. She's very hard to find in Australia, lucky for English Grandparents, this Angelina is very well loved.

Granny square blanket

Finally another project finished. Again, I finished it a couple of weeks ago and I have only just taken some photos. I started this blanket over a year ago, it was going to be for Ruby but I think it will be for the new baby. It is pretty much cot sized and it was nice finishing it off when it was cold as it kept my legs nice a warm.
I used 100% wool Moda Vera from Spotlight. I couldn't make it any bigger as it has taken me so long to finish that Spotlight has changed the colours of the wool. I was happy to finish it in the end and didn't mind not making it bigger. I love the look of a granny blanket, but I really don't think it's for me. I like a project that wont take too long and can be finished quickly.
The pattern I used was from Attic 24. Although when I came to finish it I realised I didn't quite crochet the center circle the way she did, but I think it looks very similar anyway.

How I finished it off.
Another project finished. I will look forward to having it tucked around my new little one soon.

From the weekend

Well, we went to the Destash market on the weekend. We battled the rain and tried not to get too wet. I didn't take any photo's inside as I found it hard enough to have a look around and squeeze through the people with my massive belly. It was very cramped but it was great. Everyone was lovely and I had a chat with the lovely ladies selling their fabrics.
I bought these lovely fat quarter's from One & Small, I have had my eye on some of these for some time now, so I was glad to finally buy them.
And I bought this little bundle of off cuts for $5. There was only 2 bundles left and was happy to buy the blue bundle as I don't always buy these colours.
I bought this at spotlight the other day, I love Belle and Boo and had to hold back from buying the whole collection.
Whilst in Spotlight I bought this great quilt cushion book. I cant wait to use the blue bundle I bought above to make some of these cushions.
And I also made another crochet basket from Cherry Heart, this one is for me.

Cant wait to get sewing now.
